Fundi has announced key appointments to its executive team. The internally-made appointments highlight the robustness of the company’s succession strategy.
“We are delighted to announce these promotions across critical steering positions,” says Mala Suriah, acting CEO of Fundi. “By moving existing team members into these leadership roles, we’re acknowledging the sustained contribution they’ve each made to Fundi. Their immediate understanding of Fundi’s operations and strategic direction, as well as their in-depth knowledge of the space will also unlock new value within our model.”
Jacques van Rooijen has been appointed Executive Head of IT. An authority in IT solutions with over 20 years of innovation at Fundi, van Rooijen has applied strategy, research and his own technical skill to put the company at the forefront of education business solutions. “I have a deep affinity for Fundi and its core values,” he explains. “I am proud to have already applied my expertise at Fundi to drive growth in our student loan products and fund administration solutions.”
Fundi’s Lending Division will now be led by Mary Maponya as Executive Head. With over 18 years of experience in the financial sector as well as in education, she has critical legal insight into multiple areas of legislation across industries. “I look forward to upscaling high-value relationships and using data to improve operational efficiency, with an emphasis on consumer-centricity,” she notes.
Benedict Johnson has been appointed as the Executive Head: EBS and New Initiatives, while Elmarie Britz is now Executive Head: Operations.
